Xixon Spanish Restaurant

Xixon Restaurant, Spanish Cuisine

Happen to be on Coral Way and close to 21st street? Feeling like having lunch, tapas or dinner? well, give this restaurant a try and you may easily become a regular. Let us explain why.

Specializing in Spanish food, Xixon offers imported spanish products, from the world famous Jamon de Bellota cold cuts, cheeses, delectable desserts to the delicious wines by the glass and bottle from all around Spain.

They have white and rose Anna de Codorniu Cava by the glass, along many other by the glass options, ranging from Castilla La Mancha in Central Spain, Galicia, Jumilla and the Catalunya Regions. Wide variety also by the bottle, actually around 300 labels.

Tomas Cuadrado, Chef/Sommelier at Xixon Restaurant, served us two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts to be photographed for Fashion and Wine Magazine.

We started with a trio app consisting of Croquetas de Jamon, Patatas con Alioli (Catalan way) and Gazpacho con Guarnicion, and the other appetizer was Huevos Rotos con Jamon.

Carlos Mattos, owner of Xixon recommend these appetizers with the Rose Getariako Txakolina (Denominacion de Origen of Northen Spain), offered by the bottle, made with the grapes Hondarrabi Zuri (white) and Hondarribi Beltza (red).

Another unusual and interesting dish is The Corvina with Baby Eels and Garlic Shrimps, not available on the regular menu but it can be done with a special request.

Carlos then brings a Tempranillo Wine, from Ribera del Duero: Pago de los Capellanes by Bodega El Nogal to be paired with Chuleton de Buey a la Piedra. Spectacular rustic look with rosemary and thyme are part of the simple combination in this dish to keep things in balance with the wine.

After having 2 courses of spanish treats, the popular Crema Catalana and Bunuelos de Chocolate arrive to the set, everyone knows the ingredients on the former, but just in case, eggs, sugar and milk are the main components.
Bunuelos de Chocolate are puff pastries filled with chocolate and they come with Vanilla Ice Cream.

We totally recommend this place, and as we all know restaurants are not only attractive for the food itself and service, ambience plays a huge role everywhere, well Xixon has it! Whether you sit outside on the patio, upstairs or downstairs by the bodega, "the" ambience factor is pretty high, please see it by yourself, and you may remember these words when you see the valet attendant rushing to accommodate customers cars.
